Exclusive Salon City Interview
“Beauty’s Inspired Leader”

Salon City’s Steven Casciola Interviews
Pat Parenty
Newly Appointed president of L’Oreal USA’s
US Brands Professional Products Division
8000 ‘Redkenites’ Ruled Vegas
BEVERLY HILLS, CA - January 26, 2009 - Salon City, Inc. (OTCBB: SALN) announced that Steven andAnnie Casciola, Co-Founders of Salon City, Inc. attended Redken Symposium in Las Vegas where over 8000 Redken beauty professionals, many paying $500 each, attended Redken’s annual event.
While there, Pat Parenty, the new president of L’Oreal USA’s US Brands, Professional Products Division (which includes Redken and other leading salon brands like Matrix) was interviewed by Steven Casciola, who is known for his high-profile interviews of top business people, artists, celebrities and visionaries.
Casciola asked Parenty about the personal enjoyment he has gained from being in the professional beauty industry. Parenty remarked, “You know, I actually feel very fortunate to have gotten into this industry when I did. It’s somewhere 24 years ago, now. And I think some people fall in love with an industry, and this is what has happened to me. I enjoy watching the salons prosper.”
”I really think hairdressers have a special outlook on life”
“I’ve learned so much from the professionals in this industry about perseverance and about what you have to go through, the hard work and things you need to do to succeed; and I really think hairdressers have a special outlook on life, and I’ve really learned from them in the creative area. They are very creative, so serving a creative group of people has helped me develop my own skill set. It’s been very interesting.”
Casciola asked Parenty to comment on the culture of Redkenafter telling him, “I get excited by Redken’s message. There’s an urban feel, a sophistication and a well-thought-through process. How do you get everybody on the team to orchestrate this?”
Parenty offered a candid answer, “Well, you know, it starts with our vision. We’re all salon professionals on a mission to learn better, earn better, and live better, and we’ve built an inclusive culture where we understand we’re here to serve this industry and the great people who are in it. We feel we act like a family and we have the basic DNA of the brand, which is the fashion, the science, and the inspiration that we provide in all areas of the salon business.”
“We’re a winning company and people
want to hang around with winning people.”
“We also feel that creating that connection and that community is what’s going to help us drive the positive thought of what happens in our business. It has always been a strong culture at Redkenand, as I said, an inclusive culture, where everybody counts and everybody’s input is important for our understanding of what their needs are so we can provide the resources that they need to do well. So, the culture is very strong here, and it’s not that difficult to get everybody on the same page because we’re a winning company and people want to hang around with winning people. When you provide a culture that they can prosper in, they’ll want to come to you. You don’t have to ask them to come. They’ll want to come to you.”
Excerpts of Parenty’s interview appeared in Salon City’s national newswire releases last week, and now in Salon City’s Network News, the mobile online edition that sends approximately 100,000 emails monthly to influential salon professionals, global leaders, media, celebrities and online members. Parenty’s interview will also be seen in an upcoming issue of Salon City magazine.
Steven Casciola reflected on the potential of companies like Redken and Salon Cityto prosper with the support of the beauty industry. “I remember attending my first Redken Symposium. It drew around 100 people. Now it’s thousands. Like Pat said, good things take time, but once they take hold, the sky is the limit. It reminds me of Salon City’s potential within the industry and with the consumer. This past year has taken months of quiet preparation to move our company forward, and now with the added support of the beauty and investment industry, we too are about to embark on the next stage of growth and expansion.”
