Some Times Good Happens

Published by admin on January 30, 2009

Introducing Stefanie Hayes. Who’s this you ask? Stefanie is the newest team member at Cary O’Brien’s Design & color Spa. She has just moved back into the area from Phoenix, AZ.

Stefanie was working for a friend of mine Kendall Ong in Phoenix and when she decided to move back into our area Kendall told her to contact us first, thanks Kendall.

What’s in if for you? Stefanie has 12 years of experience behind the chair and was the lead hair stylist for Mane Attraction Salon (Kendall’s). Her haircut and blowdry price was $85.00. During the interview she said I know I can build a strong guest base and am not afraid to start small and grow big. Here’s the big goodfor you the reader, Stefanie is starting as a Stylist level in or salon and her haircut and blowdry price is only $39.00. Wow, lots of experience and half the price is double the bargain.

We are very excited to have Stefanie’s talent and fresh ideas to join our team. Come in for a visit and give her a warm welcome. Cary

 Salon City’s Steven Casciola Interviews
Pat Parenty
Newly Appointed president of L’Oreal USA’s
US Brands Professional Products Division

REDKEN SYMPOSIUM

8000 ‘Redkenites’ Ruled Vegas

BEVERLY HILLS, CA - January 26, 2009 - Salon City, Inc. (OTCBB: SALN) announced that Steven andAnnie Casciola, Co-Founders of Salon City, Inc. attended Redken Symposium in Las Vegas where over 8000 Redken beauty professionals, many paying $500 each, attended Redken’s annual event.

While there, Pat Parenty, the new president of L’Oreal USA’s US Brands, Professional Products Division (which includes Redken and other leading salon brands like Matrix) was interviewed by Steven Casciola, who is known for his high-profile interviews of top business people, artists, celebrities and visionaries.

Casciola asked Parenty about the personal enjoyment he has gained from being in the professional beauty industry. Parenty remarked, “You know, I actually feel very fortunate to have gotten into this industry when I did.  It’s somewhere 24 years ago, now.  And I think some people fall in love with an industry, and this is what has happened to me.  I enjoy watching the salons prosper.”

”I really think hairdressers have a special outlook on life”

“I’ve learned so much from the professionals in this industry about perseverance and about what you have to go through, the hard work and things you need to do to succeed; and I really think hairdressers have a special outlook on life, and I’ve really learned from them in the creative area. They are very creative, so serving a creative group of people has helped me develop my own skill set. It’s been very interesting.”

Casciola asked Parenty to comment on the culture of Redkenafter telling him, “I get excited by Redken’s message. There’s an urban feel, a sophistication and a well-thought-through process.  How do you get everybody on the team to orchestrate this?”

Parenty offered a candid answer, “Well, you know, it starts with our vision. We’re all salon professionals on a mission to learn better, earn better, and live better, and we’ve built an inclusive culture where we understand we’re here to serve this industry and the great people who are in it. We feel we act like a family and we have the basic DNA of the brand, which is the fashion, the science, and the inspiration that we provide in all areas of the salon business.”

“We’re a winning company and people
want to hang around with winning people.”

“We also feel that creating that connection and that community is what’s going to help us drive the positive thought of what happens in our business. It has always been a strong culture at Redkenand, as I said, an inclusive culture, where everybody counts and everybody’s input is important for our understanding of what their needs are so we can provide the resources that they need to do well. So, the culture is very strong here, and it’s not that difficult to get everybody on the same page because we’re a winning company and people want to hang around with winning people. When you provide a culture that they can prosper in, they’ll want to come to you.  You don’t have to ask them to come.  They’ll want to come to you.”

Excerpts of Parenty’s interview appeared in Salon City’s national newswire releases last week, and now in Salon City’s Network News, the mobile online edition that sends approximately 100,000 emails monthly to influential salon professionals, global leaders, media, celebrities and online members. Parenty’s interview will also be seen in an upcoming issue of Salon City magazine.

Steven Casciola reflected on the potential of companies like Redken and Salon Cityto prosper with the support of the beauty industry. “I remember attending my first Redken Symposium. It drew around 100 people. Now it’s thousands.  Like Pat said, good things take time, but once they take hold, the sky is the limit. It reminds me of Salon City’s potential within the industry and with the consumer. This past year has taken months of quiet preparation to move our company forward, and now with the added support of the beauty and investment industry, we too are about to embark on the next stage of growth and expansion.”

Can a Haircut Change Your Life? Maybe It Can Help

Published by admin on January 16, 2009

This is why I love this industry. The following is a letter that a guest of our salon felt compelled to write following a visit with Danielle. Let me first say how awesome it is to hear the good stuff. Often as an owner we hear the opposite. We thank Chuck for taking the time to let us know how he feels. As for Danielle she is in our advanced training program. We feel very strongly that the only way to have a strong salon team is to grow out team members from with-in. Danielle joined us in August and is moving through the program very nicely. Enjoy

Cary, Just wanted to say thank you to you and your staff especially Danielle, for the wonderful experience I have had at the salon. I was in the military for over 17years, with the same flat top hair cut. After getting out in 2002, I had no idea what I wanted. I had gone to several salons over the last few years however nothing seemed to fit for me. You and Danielle took great care in listening to me and what I thought I wanted to do with my hair. Talking about my lifestyle and what might work for me. It looks great!  I flew over to Germany in mid December for a reunion with my daughter on network T.V. after not seeing her for 20 years. While I was in wardrobe at the studio the stylist commented to me, my hair looked great and he didn’t want to change a thing for the show. He stressed it a bit and sent me on my way. I believe that is a testament to the great care your salon takes with every client that walks through your door. I have been back twice since then, once with my daughter and also my wife. The same care and attention has been taken and we are all very happy.

The best part of all for me is it has given me a better self esteem. I look better and now I feel better. It isn’t just a hairstyle it is a whole new feeling.

Thanks again for everything

Chuck Fischer

Here we go again!

Published by admin on January 13, 2009

I can’t believe it was last year when I last blogged. Is that past tense for blog? Whether we are ready or not time just marches on. Here are the happenings at Cary O’Brien’s. Jenny and Julie are really working the Junior designers in the training program. Julie and Jenny are getting more strict with them about having models. It is so fun for me to watch our two trainers grow as professionals and people, even if they feel frustrated at times.

Our associates right now are Ashley, Danielle, Kate, and Lindsey. We have taken them out to look for models a couple of times to show them how easy it is. We have our team work on real people to not only get a better feel for hair but they must learn how to talk to real persons also.

If anyone reading this needs a new look and affordable our team in training price for services they are training on is always half price. Hard to beat in this tough economy.

I have had what we call one on one’s with most of the team for this month and are putting the game plan together for each person. Not a small task as we are up to 27 total co-workers.

We have hired a new to us massage therapist named Colleen. She has joined us from a local large massage chain organization. With her two years of experience she is awesome and fits right in, we are grateful to have her join us.

Talisa is working on the calendar of events. Also a huge task to try to lay down the game plan for the entire year. Fun events to keep our guests engaged, the team happy, and grow out people.

For me it is a time of excitement. I can only see what each person can do and how they can grow both personally and professionally. This is an awesome vocation.
